Summer holidays this year have been amazing! I’ve managed an elongated break from the daily grind and have just come on the first of many trips to the southwest this year, with a lot of time to get in the air.

We are down in Gnarabup with the in-laws, which is just outside Margaret River, near Prevelly. Kids, booze, cheese, board games and the beach are pretty much what our holidays consist of, pure heaven. It just so happened my other passion was satisfied with an open water swim race on the same weekend we were in town. Can I ask for anything more?

The weather is on point, high twenties and not a lot of wind so the drone comes with us everywhere we go for some quick aerial shots of the region. Check Instagram for my latest posts.

We managed to get some ripper shots of Surfers Point in Margaret River, Redgate Beach, Eagle Bay, and the crowd favorite, Meelup Beach.

We spent a whole morning at a little bay we found near Eagle Bay and had the whole stretch to ourselves. I got some amazing aerial shots while I ducked out to a few different spots along the stretch of beach while the fam SUP’d and snorkeled. I had my first attempt at the SUP with the kids on board, so much fun! Another thing to add to the list?

Our next trips are to Busselton and then Dunsborough. Such amazing places to visit. I can’t wait to grab an image of the Jetty with the new drone. We’ll probably hit the Meelup area again when we’re back in April as I’m chasing that perfect Meelup shot, it can get quite windy there and I want to capture the essence of the flat aqua water. The shallows of Old Dunsborough Bay are a must and literally look different each time we are there too. I love to compare the shots over time.

Let us know if there are any places we should add to the list!
